How did you do it?
It’s always the first question that gets asked when people find out that I lost over 140 pounds in 18 months. Everyone thinks that it was surgery, medication, or living in the gym for six hours a day. Truth is, it’s none of that. No surgery, no medication, very little exercise.
It wasn’t a miracle, although it still feels like it.
When I tell people that I lost so much weight eating bacon and cheese, they think I’m crazy. When I show them the pictures of me before and me after, they think it’s Photoshop. When people who knew me before see me now, they don’t recognize me at all.
Why do we have a such a hard time believing?
If it hadn’t happened to me, I wouldn’t believe it myself. I’ve tried so many times to lose weight and failed time after time. Every time you lose some weight, you get your hopes up, and every time you put it back on, it takes more of your self respect. Eventually you lose faith in yourself and believe that you will forever be stuck being overweight, unhappy and unhealthy.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. I’m living proof.
It’s simple, and although it is not as easy as you would like it to be, it’s not as hard as you think it is. It takes an open mind, and a desire to succeed. You may have to give up some things that you believe, but what you gain in return is something amazing.
Because nothing tastes as good as feeling this way and looking this way does. The self respect, the joy in sharing it with others, and the absolute thrill of knowing that you have done something amazing is greater than anything you can imagine.
